Work recently began on the Outdoor Chattanooga building, an extensive renovation project to a 6,000 square foot floor covering building in Chattanooga’s Coolidge Park. In addition to housing the office headquarters for Outdoor Chattanooga, the facility will hold classrooms, meeting space and provide areas for equipment storage.
The LEED certified facility will include several key elements to its design. The front of the building will have a 6-foot bi-fold door. The back and western side will have insulated garage doors. Steven Brown, project designer says, “…it’s made to be opened up. On nice days we can shut the mechanical systems all the way down and just let the building breathe.” To increase the structure’s visual appeal from the adjacent walking bridge, a Live Roof ® system will be installed on part of the roof.
The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2008.
