Development Resource Center

The Development Resource Center is an 85,000 square foot office building. This project houses the City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County Departments of Public Works, Engineering, Permitting, Stormwater, Air Pollution Control, GIS, the Regional Planning Agency and the Urban Design Studio. The building is intended to be a practical example of sustainable design. It features a high performance envelope and its skin allows air infiltration to control moisture. It also includes other building materials that impact the environment and indoor air quality. Skylights are featured throughout the space, as are light reflective finishes. City of Chattanooga announces new Outdoor Center

Tuesday July 29, 2008

Work recently began on the Outdoor Chattanooga building, an extensive renovation project to a 6,000 square foot floor covering building in Chattanooga’s Coolidge Park. In addition to housing the office headquarters for Outdoor Chattanooga, the facility will hold classrooms, meeting space and provide areas for equipment storage.

The LEED certified facility will include several key elements to its design. The front of the building will have a 6-foot bi-fold door. The back and western side will have insulated garage doors. Steven Brown, project designer says, “…it’s made to be opened up. On nice days we can shut the mechanical systems all the way down and just let the building breathe.” To increase the structure’s visual appeal from the adjacent walking bridge, a Live Roof ® system will be installed on part of the roof.

The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2008.
